Next Sunday, take an easy walk to Millers Landing. This is a really enjoyable walk that gently meanders through open banksia & stringy bark woodland out to the coast where you overlook beautiful Corner Inlet.

The fact that Miller's Landing is located on the southern coast of Corner Inlet means that the southern most stand of mangroves in the world are well protected. You will get a chance to wander onto the beach to view these.

A walk with a difference this month. We are going to meet at the Wildlife viewing area at the entrance to the airfield at 9.30. If you are not too sure watch out for the TROS flag. This will be quite a leisurely stroll and  along the way you may glimpse many feathered & fury friends. It is very interesting to see the airfield. It will look very quiet at this time of year but can become quite a hub when the Prom is threatened by bushfire or...

The month of May takes us on the wonderfully scenic loop around the headland between Norman & Leonard Bays. Tidal Overlook is the highest point between these bays & thanks to low shrubbery affords us stunning views to Norman Bay Beach, Norman island, the Glennie Group of Islands & Tongue Point.

Midway along the walk a short sidetrack leads to the Quiet Place, a special area dedicated to rangers world wide who have lost their lives i...

We are excited that this popular walk coincides with the Prom Coast Seachange Festival. A short upward stroll past the turn off to Mt Bishop through eucalypt forest offers commanding views back to Tidal River & Norman Bay. A board walk around the Gully then offers  the experience of one of Australia's most southern patches of temperate rain forest - trully stunning. It is then an easy walk back through the heathland to the carpark where...

March 11, 2015

So lets 'march into March' wuth an exhilarating meander up to Windy Saddle. Infact it is a steady climb, on a good track and for those of us who have done the walk in the past few years we are sure to notice a healthy forest of grass trees, ferns, paper backs & large eucalypts recovering from fire & flood. At Windy Saddle we are 300meters above sea level - it is a lovely open grass area surrounded by bush & flanked by Mt McAlister to the s...

Walks. The body advances while the mind flutters around like a bird - Jules Renard

While meandering gently upwards this stunning walk takes us through a varied mix of vegetation  of messmate, banksia, she-oaks & ferns along the Western edge of the Prom. And the best is that it offers wonderful glimpses of the coastline along the way. After approx 2 km we will turn off & take a short climb up a rocky ridge to the Lookout. What views!! To th...

Happy New Year to all TROS followers & walkers. We are confident that this is the year when we will see this amazing project come to fruition......and we are excited!!

On this first walk for 2015 we are heading off to Pillar Point. This is not a long one but one of the most scenic. Along the way you will take in stunning views along Tidal River out to Norman Bay. Arrivi...

Next Sundays walk is an opportunity to cleanse the soul ( & the conscience) as we free fall towards Christmas. We are off to Vereker Lookout - so meet at the Five Mile car park at 9.30 am in readiness for a moderate 3 km (each way) slowly rising stunning ramble up to the Lookout. We will be winding through Banksia woodland taking in panoramic views to Darby Saddle, Corner Inlet and Cotter's Beach and then 'scrambling' alongside and over Wi...

J'adore Slice - this is a favourite for morning tea on the Open Space walk. I note that the recipe has directions for those who have a Thermomix. However I'm sure any sort of cook could work out how to convert the directions to a conventional method of mixing & melting!
